Believe In Yourself - Pattern Creation

Do we really have control of our own image? How much does our "new digital version" affect everyday and how obsessed are we with our self-image? Everything has to be right and beautiful: better angle, better pose, better face. We try to hide the evidence: it can not seem tired, nor naturally spontaneous. Selfies serve as a record of our day-to-day lives and behaviour, but as we use selfies to serve our personal marketing, aren’t we reversing roles and, instead of using it to record our daily lives, our daily lives changed because of it?
The questioning came from an ad in Vogue magazine, where all the characters are taking selfies in a cafe, and there is no interaction between them. The characters in this ad were clipped and pasted onto different backgrounds and situations. The collages served as a basis for the final illustration of the print, entitled "Believe in your selfie," indicating that we believe more in our selfie and the image we create virtually from our mobiles than we believe in ourselves.
